"I make tableware with the intention to 'Celebrate the Everyday — Every Day.' Each piece is one-of-a-kind, handbuilt with irregular, overlapping slabs of white earthenware clay.
These are a canvas for an almost surreal-like, stream-of-consciousness series of drawings — intermingling heads, figures, plant life and pattern — which are painted with colourful foodsafe underglazes and glazes.
Many of these pieces 'ride the edge.' It is this edge, between form-function, art-craft, playfulness and severity, that I find motivating and intriguing."
More works in each of Suzy's series are constantly being made.
Each piece is one of a kind.
Suzy's Tableware works also include ceramics related to Judaica - i.e. menorahs, candle holders and goblets for Shabbat. |
