"Each piece has its own presence, personality and subplot, which I discover and enhance along the way. They are not planned — there are no preliminary drawings. They are about being in the moment, with the Music, with the Clay. Then returning to them, weeks later, to Paint.
Each work is named after a piece of music performed by a specific musician. Whenever possible, the music accompanies the work."
Because I, myself, am in such a state of 'Getting to know you' with this series, I felt compelled to pass that along (via ribbons and objects) while still leaving each piece open to interpretation.
Subtext re Ribbons: a device used by Frida Kahlo to inform her paintings, inspired by Mexican (retablos) -- tin paintings which describe through image and text 'A miracle happened here'.
